Take a Chance

“Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense.” ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
Wise words from a wise, wise man; I believe heeding this advice can only improve one’s life for the better. I also strongly believe that in order to own one’s power these are very helpful words. As human beings we are not perfect, in fact far from it, so blunders and absurdities are a part of life. Even so, they should not dominate our life. We should acknowledge our mistakes by taking responsibility for them; learning from them and then moving on. Ignoring or dwelling on them is truly a waste of both opportunity and energy. As so many people have said before me, there is only the now; only this moment. If we want to be happy we have to be happy in the now; we can do that by taking sole responsibility for ourselves and our own happiness. This is where our power comes from. Another’s thoughts, actions or beliefs should never impede upon our own happiness or on how we live our own lives. If we allow this to happen by giving away our power, our control, over our own lives we will never be happy. Being happy is our birth right. When we allow ourselves to be happy through owning our power this happiness manifests as good health; physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.
We own our power when we allow our true selves to emerge; through this emergence we will come to understand the joy of life. The vast diversity of nature is what makes nature beautiful, interesting and captivating. Humanity is part of nature and the same ‘rules’ apply. When we all try to be on the same wavelength or to conform to whatever criteria we choose we limit our individuality and we, all of us, all of life, are the lesser for it. Take a chance, allow your true colours to emerge, let your light shine, be a witness to who you are and discover just how wonderful a difference you, one person, can make in the world.
